Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche deals with many topics. This work is composed of many stories in which he deals with different themes and ideas. Nietzsche's key ideas include friendship, marriage, thoughts about women, and the “Übermensch” or superman. He talks a lot about the concept of overcoming and the only way man can succeed is to overcome. Furthermore, the idea of "life affirmation" is central to his philosophy. Nietzsche's life-affirming ideas connect to the theme of the superman, life-affirming is the questioning of any code that drains one's energy, however socially recognized such ideas might be. He believes that living by such principles is a waste of time and not a life worth living. Nietzsche believes that religion, although comforting to oneself, is a self-delusion. He argues that all values are creations of human beings; therefore, all human beings are responsible for living according to those high values that they have created themselves. Nietzsche also speaks about women in a controversial and stereotypical way. Nietzsche brings together the idea of the superman and that it is woman who produces him. Although the woman achieves great things, Nietzsche still has negative thoughts towards her, while in reality the woman should be glorified for being able to do so. Nietzsche wrote the book “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” in which he expresses his opinions on many things. It's mainly about the superman but it's also about friendship and women. It seems that he wrote this book to express his true thoughts through a different “persona”, which would be the character Zarathustra. Nietzsche constantly brings up the concept that man can only succeed if he wins (Jonas 154).
