The Irish Republican Army was a known terrorist organization originating from Dublin, Ireland. The IRA (Irish Republican Army) used irregular military tactics including ambushes, sabotage, raids and small wars against the United Kingdom. The IRA waged guerrilla warfare against the English, creating the Irish War of Independence. Although the Irish Republic Army is no longer active, it caused havoc for many different people in its time. In this essay, the group's description, historical and past events of the group, and recent activities will be discussed. The Irish Republican Army was a revolutionary military organization of the Irish Republic. It came from the Irish Volunteers, who were created on 25 November 1913. The Irish Volunteers started the Easter Rising to end British rule in Ireland, leading them to be titled as the Irish Republican Army in January 1919. In 1919, the Irish Volunteers they were confirmed by the Irish nationalists, Dail Eireann and were recognized as a legitimate army. The IRA waged guerrilla warfare against the British from 1919 to 1921, creating the Irish War of Independence. The IRA was active from January 1919 to March 1922, although it is now inactive. The main leader of the IRA was the IRA Army Council. Their headquarters were in Dublin, Ireland, but they also operate in the UK, All Ireland and Northern Ireland. The IRA was financed by extortion, bank robberies and donations from their descendants. The main objective of the Irish Republican Army was to become independent from Great Britain. The Irish Republican Army began after being recognized by the Irish Nationalists when they were Irish Volunteers from the start of the Easter Rising. Their main aim is to create in the middle of the paper and they are trying to reconcile with their past mistakes, to everyone's surprise they sent their “most sincere apologies and condolences” to the families of its civilian victims in July 2002, in thirtieth anniversary of the “Bloody Friday” attacks of 1972. The Irish Republican Army was considered one of the most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world at the time. They carried out numerous bombings and terrorist acts to demonstrate how serious they were about becoming independent from Britain. The IRA's wish to become independent from Britain was eventually granted, but the result was that the terrorist group split in two due to differing views.
