Value chain analysis would allow me to evaluate the organization; functionality, resources, customers, marketing, purchasing, research and development, and human resources. (Coulter, 2013, p. 99-100) Internal audit would analyze the organization's resources and capabilities. (Coulter, 2013, p. 101) This would allow me to see if we can expose the strengths and weaknesses of manufacturing, marketing, R&D, financials, management, technology, board of directors, the structure of the organization and the culture. (Coulter, 2013, p. 102-104) Based on the case study I think I would find areas in Avon's management, technology, and structure that would need improvement. I think the focus should be the ability to understand what is happening internally. I think you can deal with external problems until you get your house in order. I don't think layoffs are a solution. I think an organization should exhaust all other tactics before doing so
