Decisions are the basis of human history, progress and modern society. Important decisions often cause conflict within a person as they attempt to make a choice based on what they believe is right, as well as what they believe is wise. Throughout life and society, people find themselves at a crossroads of beliefs or thoughts with the justification of murder. This is due to the dissonance that occurs when they have conflicting feelings with the idea that killing another human being is wrong, even if it seems inevitable in certain situations. This inevitability is what justifies murder in the first place. These conflicting feelings create a cognitive dissonance that has a harmful impact on society because people in society care less about people being killed because of the simple and common justification behind it. Cognitive dissonance is recognized as a clash of beliefs or thoughts. This struggle is common throughout life and is present even when unexpected. The justification for killing other human beings is often overlooked during war. When you look at society as a whole, you can see that humans' willingness to downgrade themselves to the savage, bloodthirsty beings they have the potential to be is detrimental to the truth of present and future actions. This harmful truth is harmful to the future because it promotes the idea that not caring is actually right and even expected. People just seem to shrug it off when they hear about a soldier dying, a criminal taking their own life, or innocent people dying in a car accident, because they simply don't "know" those people. The constant disregard of unnecessary death creates an atmosphere of acceptance in which “that...... middle of paper... much of it consisted of everyday life: the real examples are those that people have personally experienced. This gives them an element of understanding that could not be achieved in any other way. Many must realize that the chaos that people are surrounded by is not as important as the validation of the resolutions adopted. Works Cited Apocalypse Now. Dir. Francesco F. Cappola.
