Observation Report Astor Services for Children and Families is a preschool located in the Bronx, New York. The school is conveniently located for most parents because the 5 subway line is nearby with few MTA buses. The center is closed during national holidays of the school year and during holidays in February, April, June and December. Astor follows the Board of Education's schedule in terms of holiday closures. PS15 is aimed at emotionally disturbed children aged three to five. Opening hours are 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. The organization is licensed by the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene. . PS15 is funded by the state of New York; including teachers' salaries and children's lunches, doctors and therapists are paid by Medicaid. Astor is not a compulsory school for children aged 3 to 5, it is a parents' choice to admit their children to this school. During my visit to PS 15, I found a warm and friendly environment. The center looks clean and comfortable with an adequate noise level. When students arrive in the morning, they are welcomed with open arms by the staff and friendly faces. The staff at this site is very caring and open to helping students achieve their desired results. Here students are taught to brush their teeth, toilet training is available if a child needs it and positive behavior is also taught here. There are gates and safety facilities throughout the building, such as fire extinguishers, fire exits and appropriate toys for appropriate age groups. There are safety plans posted throughout the building in case of emergency, there are also lockout procedures in the sc...... middle of the card ...... lunch should be more tasty and attractive for the Children, increasing their appetite is not only what is best for them, but will also help them be more focused. In this way I think Astor should have his own chef to create tastier meals. Another issue that struck me was the fact that the children at PS15 spend a lot of time on bus trips to and from school, many of them staying on the buses for an hour or two hours a day five days a week going to and from school. coming to school. I believe the school director should work to create a shorter bus route for those who live further away from the school. Finally, I believe that all teacher assistants should be enrolled in school once they finish their studies. Many of the teaching assistants at PS15 have been there for 5-12 years, with this turnover rate, teaching assistants should be required to achieve more in school.
