A person could see this clearly just by looking at the grades I got in my final essays. So far in every essay this semester I have managed to get a higher grade than the previous essay. One thing I managed to correct looking back was the use of the word “it.” As stated by Schwartz, "It's a pronoun, so it has to replace a noun or a pronoun, what is it replacing?" By reflecting on my previous essays and reading this commentary I was able to further understand the use of the word it, and along with this I could correct it in subsequent essays. In addition to getting better grades on my final papers, I was able to further understand the purpose of pre-writing assignments. At the beginning of the year I considered the pre-writing assignments almost a waste of time, but as I progressed through the course I saw how much impact they could have. During one of my essays I was making the same mistakes I had made in previous essays, so much so that my professor stated “See the comments in the previously graded assignments and apply them to the writing in this one” (Schwartz). I was making so many of the same mistakes that I had to consult my previous article to see what I was doing wrong. After reading this comment I realized how vital it was to evaluate the comments made on my articles and apply them every time I write. During the final parts of the course I was able to understand the comments made by
