If a situation could be dangerous for a student or assistant, move away from the student until he calms down and talk to him from a distance. Finally, if resistance was used in their IEP, if a student reached for something they shouldn't have touched or taken, it was taken out of their hands by an aide. This obviously ends the behavior, but has no effect on explaining why they should not carry out the behavior.
