President Ronald Wilson ReaganRonald Wilson Reagan played an extremely important role in the history of the United States. Reagan did numerous things in his life that still influence citizens of the United States today. Ronald Reagan is often remembered as the 40th President of the United States, without being remembered for the important things he did to make this land we love as it is today. Reagan considered him a significant historical figure for many reasons. Ronald Reagan is a significant figure in history because he positively changed the country during his presidency, worked diligently to improve the country in times of trouble, and spoke on behalf of the citizens of the United States. February 6, 1911 was a happy day for parents Nelle and John Reagan, due to the birth of their youngest son Ronald Wilson Reagan. Ronald was born in Tampico, Illinois, where his family lived in an apartment above a general store (Foster). Soon after Ronald's birth, his family moved to Dixon, Illinois, where they purchased a home in town (Foster). In interviews Reagan describes his childhood in Dixon as “full of trouble and adventure” (“Ronald W Reagan” 10). Regan attended Dixon High School where he studied economics and sociology. During college Regan worked, played on the college football team, and participated in the school's theater events (“Reagan” 10). Regan enjoyed his time as an actor in college and would soon land an acting contract after auditioning during his senior year of college (Foster). After his father's death, Reagan moved to Hollywood, California in 1937 to pursue an acting career, leaving his mother behind ("Reagan" 11).
